As many of you know, my father-in-law has been fighting brain cancer since December 28th of last year. We are so grateful for the past 11 months that we've had with him as the doctors were unsure of its progress. He has been able to share in 2 years of his grandson's life and see his grand-daughter as he was the first person to hold her after Jeremy and I.
Henry is one of those people who never met a stranger. He can certainly talk your ear off, but he is full of interesting facts and great stories. He was the epitome of a handy man, but his tumor has caused that to decline. He was one of those men that knew to do things that the rest of us never knew needed to be done in the first place, like caulk the windows of his early 1900s house. He always has a great sense of humor, even through all the treatment. Before he lost his mobility, it wasn't rare that you would see Henry either out in the yard, on the floor playing with Jack, or building or repairing something out in the drive. He is truly a great man.
Today Henry suffered his second seizure since his tumor diagnosis. He was in Houston for testing for a new clinical trial he will take part in, and as they were packing to leave it struck. Jeremy headed down there right away to be with his dad and support his mom. We are grateful that there was no bleeding in the brain or anything else significant in order to submit him. He is back at Margo's sisters house tonight. Jeremy said that he's not very coherent in his speech, but is resting and seeming okay otherwise.
All I know is that Henry has placed his trust in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Praise be to God. Ever since he has been a Christian, he has touched many a life. Jeremy and I continue to be amazed at the amount of support and prayers that he has received over the past few months. What a role model and inspiration. Thank you for such a FANTASTIC father to my Jeremy and INCREDIBLE grandfather for my children!
I was thinking of your father in law just the other day. Love the pics of him with the kids. Praying for him. Is there anything we can do to help you while Jeremy is gone?
