Late Labor Day Post

Since starting back work, I haven't been the most diligent in keeping up with my blog, so sorry for the delay for the Labor Day post.

We went out to New Braunfels with our family and extended family, the Crittendens, for the long weekend. My brother-in-law's family has a lake house out there that we stayed at. Like many of the lakes in this region, the water was REALLY low, so we didn't swim.

We did, however, take Jack and Ryleigh to the Natural Bridges Wildlife Safari. Jack loved seeing all the animals up close and had the cutest giggle throughout the ride. Ryleigh leaned out the window and pointed to everything.

Jack with the zebra.
Us at the petting zoo area, aka stinky goats that tried to eat my shirt! Ugh!
Back at the lake house, Kevin made Jack water balloons. Based on the pic, I don't think Jack was too excited about it, do you? We also enjoyed feeding the deer that came right up to the front porch. Jack named one of the young bucks that came every morning "Jordan".

Here's one of Ryleigh and Aunt Malu and Sophie. Ryleigh doesn't seem as entertained with Sophie as usual because there were several late nights for her out there and she was TIRED.
We got to eat at Friesenhaus Restaurant that was incredible. The waitresses wore traditional German frocks and they had a guy on the accordion playing old German music. Our family ordered a "das boot", a boot-shaped, HUMONGOUS, 2-liter beer mug. We passed it around so we could all get a picture, but we used my mom's camera, so I didn't have any good shots.

On Sunday we floated the river, if you can call it that. The water was flowing at less than 50%, so we had to row to get ourselves going and then had to get out and walk over the rocks a couple of times. It was still a fun experience, and we got to see many interesting people.

Can't wait til next year, Kev!
